A second year student who is quite attached to Ryuko. She is often taken hostage or punished by other members of the academy. Because rank in the school determines ones living conditions, Mako resides in the poorer "slums" of the city with her mother, father (who is a back alley doctor), and her delinquent younger brother. Mako is a very energetic lady, opting to greet people with an affectionate dive into them.
